Digital transformation of long-term care facilities for older people
Society is aging fast and taking care of the elderly is becoming a challenge. Digital solutions offer support to nursing staff but the potential of digitisation is still underused. The DigiCare4CE project promoted innovative solutions that improve care quality and developed a transnational strategy for the digital transformation of care facilities. The partnership tested the deployment of new technologies in pilot actions and elaborated action plans for their broader implementation.

Our Challenge: The Aging Population and Care Crisis
As societies worldwide continue to grapple with aging populations, traditional care models have become increasingly strained. A declining number of caregivers combined with a rising number of care recipients presented a significant challenge. The project addressed the urgent need to streamline and optimize care processes to ensure the well-being of older adults and alleviate the burden on healthcare systems.
Specific Problem: The Digital Divide in Care
While digital technologies offer immense potential to improve care delivery, many care facilities and providers faced significant challenges in adopting and effectively utilizing these tools. A notable gap existed between the available digital solutions and their actual implementation in the care sector. This digital divide hindered the ability to optimize care processes, enhance patient outcomes, and alleviate the workload on care staff.
