The end

We officially came to the end of our project, but although the title says “The end”, it is not the end for our efforts in working towards sustainable mobility. Based on 6 successful pilot projects tested in cross-border and peripheral areas during the project lifecycle, we developed plans and strategies that can be replicated elsewhere (available here). We also set basis for further development of these or similar solutions.

By introducing two (2) cross-border rail services, we showed how it can be done. By creating a Governance report, we showed how it can be financed.

By introducing bike/scooter sharing points and web portal for train-bike combinations, we showed how the last mile can be tackled.

By digitalizing demand responsive transport service, we showed how to make it more efficient and accessible.

By creating a mobile app that covers different public transport services, we showed how to make public transport easier to use.

All of this served to recognize rail transport as a backbone for both regional connectivity and daily mobility needs. We identified interoperability data harmonisation, and governance coordination as key systemic enablers. We confirmed the strategic role of digitalisation (MaaS, DRT) in supporting future mobility transitions. We achieved strong consensus on the need to scale up and transfer pilot actions and ICT-based solutions beyond project boundaries. And most importantly, we consolidated the transnational cooperation for the future, with emphasis on long-term stakeholder engagement and policy uptake to ensure lasting impact of project results.

So, the project finished but not our work towards more sustainable mobility.
