TeBiCE project completed: lasting results for circular bioeconomy in Central Europe The TeBiCE project (Territorial Biorefineries for Circular Economy) has successfully concluded after three years of cooperation (April 2023 – March 2026). Partners from Italy, Slovenia, Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia worked together to unlock the potential of agricultural biomass and by-products and to support the development of sustainable bio-based value chains across Central Europe. What the project achieved TeBiCE addressed a clear challenge: agricultural and agro-industrial residues were often treated as waste rather than valuable resources. Through joint research, pilot actions and transnational cooperation, the project delivered practical solutions that help companies and regions turn by-products into marketable materials. Key results include: A transnational strategy for the by-product and waste market that identifies regulatory barriers and proposes ways to improve market conditions across Central Europe. A series of pilot actions that tested concrete valorisation pathways for different biomass streams (including apple by-products, radicchio leaves, hemp, corn cobs, pumpkin seed press cake and others). The Book of Good Examples and a report on operative measures and solutions, which document tested approaches, lessons learned and transferable recommendations for companies and public authorities. Who can benefit The results are designed for a wide range of stakeholders: SMEs and companies in the agri-food and bio-based sectors looking for new business opportunities based on residual biomass, Public authorities and policymakers working on bioeconomy and circular economy strategies, Clusters, research organisations and business support organisations that assist companies in developing circular solutions. How the results can be used after project closure All main outputs remain available on the project website. Companies can draw on the pilot experiences and the Book of Good Examples to identify feasible valorisation routes in their own regions. Public authorities can use the transnational strategy and the report on operative measures to improve framework conditions. The methodologies and good practices developed by TeBiCE are ready to be reused and adapted beyond the project lifetime. The TeBiCE partnership invites all interested organisations to explore the project results in the Outputs and Media sections of this website and to build on the knowledge created during the project.
