Project overview
Enhanced governance for the realisation of public key infrastructures across European internal borders
Rail lines, cycle routes and pedestrian links often stop at national borders because neighbouring regions plan investments separately and follow different rules. The project Closing the Gap combines lessons from completed Interreg investments with earlier planning methods to help authorities prepare new connections together from the start. In four border regions, two pilots will test how partners can agree priorities, involve stakeholders and address legal, technical and funding obstacles before construction begins. The results will provide practical guidance for developing future cross-border transport links more efficiently.
