As part of the ReCo project, a collaborative workshop was held in Jesenice on June 20, 2025, bringing together municipal representatives, local farmers, community groups and experts to shape an action plan for the protection and sustainable management of alpine meadows, particularly the iconic wild daffodils.
The event opened with presentations on the ReCo project and its partners’ efforts across biodiversity conservation, tourism management, and sustainable agriculture. The Slovenian Institute for Nature Conservation emphasized the importance of protecting broader biodiversity—not just daffodils—by linking nature conservation with local agriculture and tourism.
Key proposed measures include the restoration of overgrown meadows, regulation of uncontrolled tourism and traffic, reinforcement of sustainable farming practices, and long-term monitoring of daffodil habitats. The expansion of the Daffodil conservation program to neighboring municipalities and new landowners was also discussed.
Participants engaged in active dialogue, highlighting the need for improved cooperation, targeted education for visitors, and the introduction of environmentally friendly transport solutions during the flowering season. Ideas such as photo points, hybrid shuttle systems, and managing mountain pastures more effectively were warmly welcomed.
The workshop concluded with a prioritization of proposed measures and activities by the participants. These valuable contributions will be incorporated into the final version of the action plan, which will be presented and further refined at a follow-up workshop scheduled for the end of August.
