The main objective of the EUSDR Priority Area Water Quality (PA4) is to maintain good water quality in the Danube River and to contribute to the achievement of the objectives set out in the Danube River Basin Management Plan. The International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) has been organising the Joint Danube Survey (JDS) since 2001, which examines the state of the Danube from source to mouth at six-year intervals along chemical, biological and other parameters agreed by the countries. The fifth such expedition, JDS5, was implemented in 2025, in connection with which the event focuses on the results of the Danube surveys to date, presenting and discussing related international projects, the possibility of applying community science and involving society, especially the younger generation.
UrbanBlueHealth presented a segment of the community utilisation of the Danube, highlighting the public health link between climate change and water quality.
