On 18 February, we had the pleasure of presenting the TRANSGEO project at Geosphere Austria in Vienna. The event proved to be both highly engaging and very successful.
We were honored to welcome a distinguished group of guests, including Member of the European Parliament Ms. Anna Stürgkh, Vienna Federal Council member Mr. Stefan Gara, representatives of mining companies such as RAG and ONEO, a board member of the Austrian Geothermal Energy Association (GTÖ), as well as eight representatives from INTERREG Central Europe.
The discussion was lively and highly informative, lasting more than three hours — a clear demonstration of the strong interest in the topic. The main objective of the event was to provide an overview of the potential for reusing abandoned wells and to raise awareness of this important issue.
We concluded the meeting by agreeing to remain in close contact with Ms. Stürgkh to exchange updates on the need for appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks for geothermal energy in general, and in particular for future legislation enabling the reuse of abandoned wells.
