From 7 to 9 October 2025, a three-day Transnational Train-the-Trainers Winter School took place at the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek, Croatia. The training brought together 58 participants, including agricultural advisors, project partners and external experts, to strengthen knowledge of carbon farming and support the transfer of project results into agricultural advisory practice.
The programme combined theoretical training, practical work, case studies, policy discussions, field visits and peer exchange. Key topics included:
- carbon farming techniques and soil carbon sequestration;
- carbon farming business models and practical examples;
- monitoring approaches;
- EU policies and regulatory frameworks; and
- cooperation models and approaches to integrating carbon farming into agricultural advisory services.
Field visits complemented the training with practical examples from agriculture and bioenergy production, while a visit to the Agricultural Institute Osijek provided further insights into plant breeding and sustainable agricultural practices.
The Winter School also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss how carbon farming knowledge and approaches could be integrated into their advisory work and transferred to farmers in different national and regional contexts.
