Stakeholder Meeting in Gdańsk Highlights Progress of the Circular WEEEP Project

On Gdańsk Plants an “Electric Forest” – 250 Oaks for Recycling 250 Tonnes of E-WasteJanuary 14, 2026, a stakeholder meeting of the Circular WEEEP project was held in Gdańsk, bringing together representatives of local authorities, project partners, and waste management stakeholders.

During the meeting, the current progress of the Circular WEEEP project was presented, with particular emphasis on the results achieved through the implementation of five pilot projects focused on improving e-waste management. Project partners shared insights from their pilot activities, highlighting practical solutions, early impacts, and lessons learned to date.

Special attention was also given to the Gdańsk Municipality’s plans to launch a citywide collection campaign for used batteries in schools. This initiative aims to strengthen environmental awareness among young people and increase the collection rates of hazardous household waste.

Participants actively exchanged opinions and suggestions on how to further improve communication with the local community and discussed ways to encourage residents to make more effective use of existing WEEE collection systems. Stakeholders were invited to continue supporting local actions and to help promote responsible e-waste management practices.

The second part of the meeting focused on waste management operations in Gdańsk in 2025. Attendees were presented with an overview of the activities of two waste management plants, including their current operational status and planned investments aimed at improving efficiency and supporting the transition toward a more circular economy.

 

The meeting confirmed the strong local engagement around the Circular WEEEP project and the shared commitment to developing sustainable, circular solutions for electronic waste.
