The CENTRAL-BIC (Central Europe Biodiversity Innovative Communities) project aims to promote the sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Central Europe through the application of innovative, community-based approaches. Through collaboration among project partners, research, monitoring, and pilot activities are being carried out in the fields of agriculture, rural development, and integrated tourism. Recently, the partnership has placed special emphasis on international knowledge sharing, the involvement of local stakeholders, and the development and testing of Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) models. The project’s events, workshops, and study tours have contributed to strengthening professional cooperation and sharing best practices. The main focus of the next phase will be on launching pilot activities, summarizing research findings, and implementing further communication and stakeholder engagement activities.
