The Covenant of Mayors – Europe campaign #CitiesREFRESH focused on heat protection measures in our cities and municipalities. As temperatures rise, cities and towns hit REFRESH to redefine our urban environment, protecting and supporting communities, and rethinking spaces for a cooler future.
The campaign was about cities hitting REFRESH to:
- REstorehealth, creating safer, more liveable environments for everyone.
- REbuildcommunities, fostering inclusivity, cohesion, and strong social ties.
- REnewurban design, crafting versatile spaces adapted to a hotter future.
- REvivelocal economies, boosting its appeal as a vibrant and safe place to live, work and visit.
Over six months, the campaign highlighted a range of best practice examples in municipal heat protection. In addition, a series of information events were organised and cities will have the opportunity to share their success stories and lessons learned. See Maribor’s Story here.
