The Austrian Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism awarded the State Prize for Consulting 2025 – Engineering Consulting in October 2025. In global competition, “engineering consulting made in Austria” is synonymous with quality, precision, innovative strength and reliability, as the industry repeatedly demonstrates impressively that Austrian engineering services with innovative technologies and a wealth of expertise can achieve world-leading innovations and successfully position their products and services internationally,’ explained Section Head Roland Weinert at the award ceremony for flow engineering and JR-AquaConSol for their system for real-time flood forecasting.
In the LOCALIENCE project, the companies flow engineering and JR-AquaConSol developed an operational early flood warning system on behalf of the Styrian provincial government. The system links various measurement data and calculation models that can be used to forecast discharges as well as spatially distributed water depths and flow velocities in flood areas. The forecasts enable early detection of flood risks and thus targeted planning of measures in the event of a disaster.
