🌿 How do we turn urban biodiversity goals into real-world action?
Last week at IRC 2026 in Istanbul, the largest International Geographical Union conference this year, our team presented the core results of our project: CE Strategy for NEB-based Urban Biodiverse Transition.
During the Geography of Governance session, Jan Kazak delivered our talk, “Strategy for urban biodiversity – The Central European approach within the UrbioBauhaus project”
He shared how our consortium is implementing green solutions across cities with vastly different socio-economic and spatial realities. Focusing on governance gave us the perfect platform to:
🛠️ Address real operational hurdles local authorities face when implementing urban change.
📖 Promote our practical guide, built to give municipalities a clear blueprint for green transitions.
🌆 A living lesson from Istanbul: Beyond the conference halls, Istanbul itself offered the ultimate validation. Everyday life in the city proved just how vital green spaces are. Citizens vote for nature in the city with their feet, choosing green, vibrant spots every single day.
