On 4 September 2025, the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia organised a workshop and round table bringing together around 30 representatives of ministries, agricultural advisors and researchers to discuss greenhouse gas emissions and the role of carbon farming in Slovenian agriculture.
Expert presentations addressed greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, land use and forestry, the role of carbon farming within the Common Agricultural Policy, and practical challenges related to managing emissions and carbon sinks at farm level.
The round-table discussion highlighted the need to connect agricultural practice, advisory services, research and policy when addressing greenhouse gas emissions and developing carbon farming approaches. Participants also discussed the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating these approaches into the future development of Slovenian agriculture.
