Gdańsk Residents Embrace E-Waste Recycling at the Clean City Festival

Date: 24.05.2025

On May 24, during this year’s Clean City Gdańsk Festival at Targ Węglowy, residents had the chance to engage directly with the city’s sustainability efforts, including an initiative that makes disposing of small electronic waste easier and more accessible than ever.

At the heart of the showcase was a growing city service: the red containers for small electro-waste. These distinctive bins, now numbering over 100 across Gdańsk, are designed to safely collect small electronic devices such as old phones, chargers, hair dryers, toasters, and other commonly used gadgets that often end up forgotten in drawers or, worse, in the trash.

Festival-goers could bring their unwanted or broken devices directly to the red container at the event. In addition, at a dedicated stand, residents learned about the environmental importance of responsible e-waste management and how to give a second life to used electrical and electronic equipment. The stand attracted a large number of visitors, and the container saw frequent use throughout the day, demonstrating growing public awareness and interest in circular economy practices.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the City of Gdańsk to encourage more sustainable urban living and reduce harmful waste.
