CoFarm4Cities at the Eco-Schools Coordinators’ Conference

Date: 22.08.2025
Terme Čatež, Slovenia, 22 August 2025 – CoFarm4Cities met more than 300 primary and secondary school teachers at the annual Eco-Schools Coordinators’ Conference – organized by project partner DOVES, with the support of project partner City of Ljubljana – presenting our work on stage and at our stall. The session showcased how urban agriculture can power sustainability education and local food literacy, and invited schools to collaborate.

One of the highlight was the presentation of Urban School Garden: A Teacher’s Guide. Interest was exceptional: since the event we’ve seen high download numbers and sustained requests for advice on starting or upgrading school gardens and embedding them across subjects.

The exhibition hall included the DOVES and City of Ljubljana stall, which spotlighted the mini educational urban farm at Rakova jelša and the role of pollinators in the city—perfect entry points for future joint activities.

At our stall, teachers could browse and take home ready-to-use classroom materials: a word-search on key terms, a Sustainability Quiz to spark discussion, a concise Gardening Etiquette sheet for safe, inclusive garden work, and a new leaflet on the importance of locally produced food Many teachers committed to piloting these activities early in the 2025/26 school year.

“Teachers told us they’re ready to bring urban farming into the classroom—what they need are practical, standards-aligned tools. That’s exactly what CoFarm4Cities delivers.”
