One of the biggest lessons learned was that motivation is key. While many participants were interested at the beginning, staying committed over a three-month period proved challenging. DIGITAL DETOX REQUIRES MORE THAN AWARENESS; IT REQUIRES DAILY EFFORT, PERSONAL COMMITMENT AND A REAL WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE.
The testing phase also showed that support matters. Regular communication, reminders, check-ins and motivational feedback can make a real difference in keeping participants engaged.
At the same time, THE INTERVENTION CONFIRMED THE VALUE OF HUMAN CONNECTION. Launch and closing meetings gave participants space to share experiences, reflect on challenges and feel supported throughout the process.
We also learned that CLEAR MATERIALS AND SIMPLE PROCEDURES ARE ESSENTIAL — especially when working across countries and ensuring anonymous data collection.
Looking ahead, stronger involvement of HR departments and employers could make digital detox programmes easier to implement and more impactful. They can support recruitment, communication and the integration of digital well-being into workplace culture.
THE KEY TAKEAWAY?
Digital detox is not just about switching off devices. It is about creating healthier habits, supportive environments and more mindful ways of working.
