The booklet offers a streamlined overview of how Interreg Programmes in the Adriatic-Ionian Region are integrating the Green and Smart Ports priority of the EUSAIR Action Plan. Developed within the Embedding process, it highlights this concept as a flagship initiative for Pillar 2, aimed at promoting more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced port systems across the macro-region.
By combining environmental responsibility with digital and smart solutions, the approach underlines the strategic role of ports and their potential to support the region’s green transition. The document also recalls that EUSAIR relies on coordinated use of existing funding, with Interreg programmes playing a key role in translating macro-regional priorities into concrete projects.
Supported by the StEP project (Interreg IPA ADRION), the study provides insight into how EUSAIR goals are being incorporated into cooperation programmes and stresses the need for ongoing monitoring to reinforce the Strategy’s implementation and its vision for a more connected and innovative Adriatic-Ionian Region.
Within this framework, ACCESSMILE is among the projects showcased in the booklet, confirming its strategic relevance in supporting greener, smarter, and more accessible mobility solutions for Central Europe and the wider Adriatic-Ionian macro-region.
