Workshop: Which wells can be used for Geothermal Energy, in Germany and Austria?

During this workshop, the project team presented the results of the TRANSGEO well assessment for the North German and Molasse Basins, highlighting existing wells with potential for reuse for geothermal energy production. Participants also heard presentations from invited keynote speakers, who shared their experiences and recommendations on well repurposing to support the acceleration of geothermal development and the energy transition.

The workshop also included a demonstration of the TRANSGEO online Well Assessment Tool, which identified reusable wells from the project’s database of more than 9,000 deep wells across Central Europe.
