On 12–13 September 2024, the NÖ Geotage 2024 conference took place at Haindorf Castle near Langenlois. The event focused on geothermal energy and was organized by the Office of the Lower Austrian State Government in cooperation with GeoSphere Austria and the Mineral Resources Forum of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO).
The conference examined a wide range of topics related to geothermal energy, from the regional fundamentals of geothermal energy in Austria to deep geothermal projects for decarbonization and the legal framework for geothermal energy use. One of the highlights was the presentation of the Interreg TRANSGEO project and the discussion on the role of geothermal energy in future energy supply.
