The MESTRI-CE Final Conference took place on 11 March 2026 in Zagreb, Croatia, bringing together project partners, representatives from public authorities, financial institutions, researchers, and building sector experts from across Central Europe. The event marked the successful conclusion of the three-year Interreg Central Europe project and provided an opportunity to present the project’s key achievements, exchange experiences, and discuss future pathways for sustainable and climate-neutral building renovation.

Throughout the conference, participants explored how digital solutions, integrated renovation planning, and innovative financing models can support building owners, municipalities, and other stakeholders in making informed renovation and investment decisions. The event also encouraged dialogue between policymakers, practitioners, and financial experts on how to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable building stock.

Conference agenda highlights included:

  • Opening session with welcome speeches and an overview of the MESTRI-CE project and its main achievements.
  • Presentation of project results, showcasing the developed digital decision-support tools, renovation methodologies, and financing approaches.
  • Panel discussion: Building standards, digital tools and technical assistance, focusing on the role of digitalisation and advisory services in improving renovation planning and implementation.
  • Panel discussion: Evaluation and financing of the transition to climate-neutral buildings, addressing investment strategies, financial instruments, and the role of public and private financing in supporting energy-efficient renovations.
  • Networking and stakeholder exchange, providing participants with opportunities to discuss project outcomes, share best practices, and explore future cooperation.

 

The conference demonstrated the value of an integrated approach that combines technical, financial, and digital solutions to support more effective renovation processes and contribute to the decarbonisation of the building sector.
