On 17 September 2026, the first local participatory workshop of the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE project ENRICH-US took place in Mesola, in the Province of Ferrara, Italy. The workshop focused on the question: “Which tourism governance model for our territory?”

The meeting brought together local stakeholders to discuss how tourism in the inland areas of the Po Delta can be managed in a more sustainable, coordinated and participatory way. Participants explored three tourism governance models presented within the ENRICH-US project: Destination Management Organisation, Community Cooperative and Public–Private–Community Partnership.

During the workshop, participants reflected on the strengths and challenges of each model and discussed their possible relevance for the local context. The discussion also focused on how the current situation could be improved and which tools could support more effective tourism management in the Po Delta.

The workshop marked an important step in the participatory process of the Italian pilot area. The aim is to jointly define a tourism governance model that strengthens the identity, community involvement and sustainable future of the Po Delta.

The participatory process will continue in the pilot municipalities through further meetings in Goro, Riva del Po and Codigoro. These workshops will help partners and local stakeholders move from the discussion of governance models towards shared objectives, practical tools and validation of the process.
