The Info Day provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue on the tourism development of the inner areas of the Po Delta and on the possibilities offered by new eco-cultural tourism governance models. Around 30 stakeholders took part in the event, representing institutions, associations and operators interested in contributing to a participatory process.
The event marked the first step in the local participatory process foreseen by ENRICH-US in the Italian pilot area. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of local communities to manage tourism sustainably, enhance natural and cultural heritage and test innovative governance models such as Destination Management Organisations, Community Cooperatives and Public–Private–Community Partnerships.
During the following weeks, participatory workshops will continue across the four involved municipalities: Codigoro, Goro, Mesola and Riva del Po. Together, local stakeholders will work on defining strategies, models and solutions tailored to the specific needs of the inner areas of the Po Delta.
The Info Day therefore represented an important starting point for building shared understanding, stakeholder engagement and local ownership of the ENRICH-US process in the Italian pilot territory.
