TEC4I FVG organised two co-creation workshops in Udine, Italy, involving students from the Sustainable Tourism class at MITS (Malignani Istituto Tecnico Superiore) and four local hotel managers from Friuli Venezia Giulia. The sessions presented two real-world challenges in the field of sustainable hospitality: how to effectively communicate certified sustainability practices to travellers, and how to streamline the management and monitoring of environmental data for certification compliance. Using design thinking methods, students worked directly with industry professionals to explore innovative solutions. Outcomes included: a digital tool to monitor and improve hotel sustainability performance; a gamified app to engage guests in sustainability actions and storytelling; and a website redesign to improve user experience in waste management. The initiative fostered creativity, cross-sector collaboration and empowered young talent to contribute to a more sustainable tourism ecosystem.
