Raising Awareness of Safe and Responsible Use of Natural Bathing Sites
How can we enjoy natural bathing sites while taking care of our health, the environment and water quality?
As part of the UrbanBlueHealth project, an information and educational campaign was carried out to provide users of natural bathing sites in Poland with practical knowledge about safe and responsible recreation.
The campaign was conducted on the Institute of Occupational Medicine’s Facebook profile and website. This approach allowed to reach a wide audience and present information about the project in an accessible and engaging way.
Throughout the bathing season, polish team regularly shared educational content addressing topics that are relevant to people using natural bathing sites. The campaign covered:
- the impact of feeding ducks and other waterfowl on bird health and water quality
- where to find actual information about bathing water quality,
- appropriate behaviour at bathing sites,
- responsible use of natural bathing sites.
The campaign also included an on-site activity at Stawy Stefańskiego in Łódź, one of the bathing sites where pilot activities were carried out as part of the UrbanBlueHealth project. An information board and a poster about the impact of feeding ducks and other waterfowl on their health and the water quality were installed at the bathing site.
By combining online communication with information activities directly at the bathing site, the campaign helped bring the topics addressed by UrbanBlueHealth closer to local communities and bathing site users. It also provided an opportunity to share practical knowledge and promote more informed and responsible use of natural bathing sites.
