On 23 June 2026, ENEA represented the NiCE project at “Oltre il ciclo dell’acqua” (Beyond the Water Cycle), an event held in Bologna, Italy, to showcase recent urban circular economy initiatives with a focus on sustainable water management and Nature-based Solutions (NbS).

The event brought together experiences and projects that support more sustainable and resilient cities by promoting innovative approaches to water use and circular resource management. It provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge, present good practices and engage with local stakeholders interested in environmental sustainability.

During the event, ENEA presented “Acqua in Circolo”, the Bologna pilot developed within the NiCE project. The pilot applied the Living Lab approach, actively involving citizens in designing, testing and using solutions for more circular and efficient water management in urban farming. Through practical activities, participants explored ways to save, collect and reuse water while contributing to more sustainable community gardens and urban green spaces.

By sharing the results of the pilot with a wider audience, the event helped spread knowledge about circular water management and demonstrated how citizen participation can support the transition towards more sustainable cities.
