Wildfire CE Platform presentation in Czech-Saxony crossborder region

Date: 22.04.2026

On 22 April 2026, we held a CZ–DE cross-border workshop of the Wildfire CE project in Děčín (Czech Republic), bringing together experts from research, public authorities, and emergency services across Czechia and Saxony.

The programme featured presentations covering wildfire risk assessment, spatial data, and decision-support tools. A key highlight was the live demonstration of the Wildfire CE platform — a powerful tool for visualising, analysing, and sharing wildfire-related data across borders.

We also explored differences in fire danger classification systems, discussed the Suppression Difficulty Index (SDI), and learned from international best practices shared by the US Forest Service.

The interactive discussion confirmed strong interest in the platform and highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation, data sharing, and integrated approaches to wildfire risk management.
