On March 20th several EU funded projects will meet to discuss how data-driven innovation is revolutionising logistics by showcasing three pioneering European initiatives. DISCO project funded by Horizon Europe, focusing on data-driven, integrated, synchromodal, collaborative and optimised urban freight solutions, is developing a federated digital platform for urban freight data sharing, enabling city planners to optimise freight flows within city areas and Functional Urban Areas (FUAs). On the other hand MoLo Hubs project is integrating people-centric mobility hubs with smart logistics services to reduce urban traffic and emissions, thereby making cities more liveable. Its pilot in Bergen, Norway, explores geofencing and dynamic regulation opportunities through open mobility data standards. In this context the GRETA project will bring insights from the Verona pilot demonstrating  an intelligent loading zone management system: sensor-equipped loading bays and a central app that provides live updates on available loading/unloading slots, preventing double-parking and easing city-centre accessibility.

Together, these data-driven solutions highlight the transformative potential of digital technology in freight transport – from real-time data sharing to intelligent urban hubs – helping policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers collaborate on building smarter, greener, and more resilient logistics networks across Europe.
