Introducing the WILDFIRE CE Platform: First public presentation

Date: 19.03.2026

Within the WILDFIRE CE project, a digital decision-support platform for wildfire risk management is being developed, based on fuel mapping, fire behavior modelling, and accessibility analysis.

The platform was presented at the final event of the KARST-SAFE project (Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia), held on 17 March 2026 in Sežana. As part of the round table discussion titled “How to effectively continue implementing preventive measures for a safer Karst?”, the platform was presented by the Global Change Research Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences – Domain of Climate Analysis and Modelling, representing the WILDFIRE CE project. The presentation introduced the key features of the platform, its practical functioning, and its potential application in the cross-border area of the Classical Karst.

Particular emphasis was placed on:

  • how the platform functions as a decision-support tool,
  • the key data inputs and fire modelling principles,
  • the possibilities for adapting and extending its use to cross-border risk management contexts.

The event provided an important opportunity for knowledge exchange with stakeholders from Slovenia and Italy, as well as for validating the platform’s relevance in the specific territorial context of the Karst region.

The platform will also be pilot-presented at the final event of the CROSS ALERT project, where the focus will be on its practical application and further development.
