Legal Framework for Insect Breeding and Processing in Poland – Theory and Practice, Olsztyn, Poland

The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn as part of the TeBiCe project organized Workshop about Legal Framework for Insect Breeding and Processing in Poland – Theory and Practice. The workshop took place in Olsztyn, Poland on 8-9 May 2025. In the workshops participated stakeholders interested in insects breading and processing especially SMEs, Veterinary Inspection, lawyers, researchers, students. The discussion covered Legal Requirements for Farm Insect Breeding, Legal Requirements for Feed Production and Insect Processing, Legal Requirements for Insect Food Production, Recommendations for Regulations in the Production and Processing Chain of Farmed Insects. At the end of the day the dissuasion took place and stressed few important kay points: what are the regulatory gaps in the production of food from insects in Poland, directions of development of legal regulations in the insect breeding and processing industry, which regulations need to be changed. Second day a study visit to the Cirwins sp. z o.o. insect breeding plant – Kamień Duży near Iława, Poland was organized.
