On March 27-28, 2025, the OPTI-UP project team participated in the CliMove event “Role of Public Transport in Achieving Climate Neutrality” in Šibenik, Croatia, organized by ODRAZ – Sustainable Community Development.
The two-day program featured a workshop, roundtable, study visit, and pop-up activity, bringing together around 40 participants, including ministry representatives, city officials, public transport operators, scientists, and mobility experts.
At the event, Mateo Uravić from EY presented a comparative analysis of public transport systems in six OPTI-UP pilot cities. The findings highlighted:
-
Limited integration of spatial and transport planning
-
Only one city using data-driven planning
-
Lack of uniform interpretation of operational and financial parameters
-
Common challenges with resources and capacity for effective planning
Participants engaged in an interactive workshop, role-playing various users and service providers to understand system challenges and co-create a vision for modernizing urban mobility.
OPTI-UP’s contribution to the event underscores our commitment to shaping sustainable urban transport and supporting coastal cities’ transition towards climate neutrality.
