On June 4, 2025, the Association for Sustainable Packaging organized a conference to packaging technology experts in Budapest on the challenges facing the packaging industry and the opportunities for creating a balance between economic efficiency and environmental awareness. The invited speakers examined topics that influence the future of the sector, such as the role of packaging in sustainability, what sustainability means in packaging, how actors can contribute to achieving carbon neutrality, what issues and challenges there are in the PPWR EU regulation from the perspective of a food industry company, and the challenges and opportunities of Hungarian waste processing. Rita Soós was an invited speaker at the event. She spoke about the role of R&D in achieving sustainability goals and reported on the experiences gained in the BIOECO-UP project.
