Unlocking innovation in urban logistics: the role of stakeholders’ governance

Date: 07.05.2025
By: GRETA
Following the introduction about the GRETA project provided by Ms. Benini, ITL Prof. Stocchetti from the Ca Foscari University paved the way to the fruitful discussion with his keynote speach on Governance and stakeholder engagement in urban logistics: challenges, opportunities and future trends.

Most of the participants support the early involvement of stakeholders, therefore in the planning phase, to the solution development and eventual implementation. Involving different stakeholders in urban logistics planning is rather complex, due to the different interests.

Some of the key challenges in the involvement of stakeholders in urban logistics initiatives are data collection (and access), the issues with funding/resources, lack of space and interest.

Still most of the speakers believe collaborative stakeholder involvement, flexibility in adopting adequate govenance models and transparent communication can make a difference.

Some of the participants also spoke about their own experience and success stories in other projects such as DISCO and GREEN-LOG projects.

This is the second workshop of this kind organised in the framework of the GRETA project, whereas the third one will be held in autumn 2025.
