Project overview
Building a shared vision for dark skies through science, pilots and social engagement in Central Europe
Artificial light from cities and roads disrupts nocturnal wildlife, natural habitats, and affects people’s sleep and wellbeing. Light pollution does not stop at administrative borders but regions measure and manage its effects in different ways. NIGHTVISION4CE combines data on night-time brightness, human activity and nocturnal wildlife from earlier Interreg projects into one shared monitoring approach. Two pilots will test how cities can reduce harmful lighting in green spaces and how protected areas can manage visitors without losing dark skies. The results will guide a transnational action plan for wider use.
