The City of Łódź continues participatory activities within the project RE-PUBLIC SPACES – Revitalisation of Public Spaces in Historic Cities, implemented under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme. One of the key activities was a series of public consultations entitled “ZaprojektujMY łódzkie podwórko!”, aimed at engaging residents in the process of designing public space.

The first meeting took place on 4 July 2024 in the courtyard of the tenement building at Traugutta Street 8, where representatives of the City Architect’s Office and participants discussed needs and expectations related to changing the function of this space. Participants emphasised the need to create a place that is greener, more comfortable, and better suited to everyday use by residents. The consultations were also supported by a team of experts, including Professor Kinga Krauze, an ecohydrologist from the Polish Academy of Sciences, who assisted in analysing the design concepts developed jointly with participants.

In subsequent stages, residents had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the outcomes of the co-design process and submit comments on proposed solutions. These activities exemplify an open dialogue between residents and the city authorities, aimed at jointly shaping the quality of neighbourhood spaces.
