On 6 May 2026, a creative workshop entitled “My City, My Future” was organised in Kranj as part of the activities of the CICADA4CE project. The event involved primary school students aged 12–15 and focused on raising awareness about climate change, urban heat islands, biodiversity, and sustainable urban development.
During the workshop, participants discussed how climate challenges are already affecting their region and reflected on possible solutions for making cities more sustainable, resilient, and pleasant places to live. A central theme of the activity was imagining the future of Kranj in 2050: will the city become greener or more digital? How can urban areas adapt to rising temperatures and increasingly frequent extreme weather events?
Using collage techniques and recycled materials, the students created their own visions of a future climate-friendly city. The creative process encouraged teamwork, discussion, and critical thinking, while generating many inspiring ideas related to green public spaces, sustainable lifestyles, and coexistence with nature.
The workshop highlighted the importance of involving younger generations in discussions about climate adaptation and urban resilience. The enthusiasm, creativity, and environmental awareness shown by the participants demonstrated a strong interest in contributing to a more sustainable future.
The collages created during the workshop are currently exhibited at France Prešeren Primary School Kranj and will also be displayed in the old town centre of Kranj at the end of June 2026.
