Updates from Hungary: PBN – Pannon Business Network

Date: 11.06.2026
Pannon Business Network has been supporting businesses and the local innovation ecosystem for nearly 20 years, with a strong focus on increasing the value created by companies. As an applied research and development centre, PBN promotes practical digital and technology-based solutions that help manufacturing enterprises become more competitive and better prepared for future challenges.

A key pillar of this work is am-LAB, PBN’s digital innovation hub in Szombathely, which focuses on technologies such as collaborative robotics, 3D technologies and extended reality solutions. Through these activities, PBN helps manufacturing SMEs translate digitalisation into practical, tangible value on the shop floor. PBN also organises awareness-raising events for students, introducing them to digital technologies, innovation and future-oriented career opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

Within the INNOSKILLS-CE project, PBN is building on this experience to support the development of innovative training solutions for young people and SMEs. As coordinator of WP2, PBN will play a central role in the creation of the Learning Management System, the development of AR/VR-based training content and the design and testing of practical simulations linked to real manufacturing environments.

The Learning Management System will be organised as a practical online space for schools, where teachers and students can access educational resources, AR/VR-related content and supporting materials in a structured way. The platform is planned to include modules or sections that guide users through the training process, helping teachers integrate the materials into classroom activities and allowing students to explore selected topics interactively and at their own pace.

In the coming period, PBN will work closely with local SMEs, vocational schools and regional stakeholders to identify relevant skills needs and explore how immersive technologies can make technical education more engaging, practice-oriented and better aligned with labour market expectations.
