On 10th December 2025, the ACCESSMILE project was presented at the Next Generation Mobility Event in Turin. Eng. Simone Pacciardi, from the Port Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, presented the benefits of the Pilot Action in the port of La Spezia. Thanks to the digitalization brought by ACCESSMILE, the connections between the port and its hinterland, including rural and peripheral areas are significantly increased. Thanks to the interaction between the Port Community System and the digitalization of the port-hinterland shuttle system, more than 50,000 truck missions and 1,800 trains were handled in the dry port. The interoperability and data collection at the gates, allows real time traffic monitoring, reducing inefficiencies. In short, ACCESSMILE is more than just technology. In fact, this project achieved the following objectives in the port of La Spezia:
- Reducing inefficiencies by improving competitiveness, supporting intermodality, and strengthening La Spezia’s role as a strategic hub in European networks
- Stimulate the growth of peripheral and rural areas thanks to more precise, sustainable, and connected logistics.
