Seven startups. Seven ideas working toward a lower-carbon economy in Central Europe. On April 22nd, the kick-off workshop of the CREDIT4CE startup support programme marked the beginning of a shared journey that over the next three months will accompany founders through a path of learning, connections, and concrete growth.
The workshop introduced the programme’s structure, built around two complementary pillars: a training component, with six thematic workshops covering business strategy, internationalisation, validation, commercial traction, funding strategies, and scalable business models, and an individual support component, through one-to-one mentoring sessions with experienced practitioners from Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Poland, Croatia, and Slovakia.
The first cohort startups had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their work: from a nature intelligence platform for real estate investment decisions, to active panels designed to reduce building energy consumption; from a fully repairable and recyclable umbrella challenging the throwaway culture of the industry, to an automated system for mushroom production from agricultural waste; alongside a carbon data sharing platform connecting supply chains, and an app that turns everyday cycling into trackable environmental impact.
What emerged from this first gathering is founders navigating real challenges, fragmented markets, limited access to capital, networks yet to be built, and a programme that aims to be a useful companion along the way, without pretending to have all the answers. Participant feedback will help adjust the experience as it unfolds, with a second cohort already planned for September through November.
The journey has only just begun.
