H2CE partners worked together to collect good practices, review pilot activities and compare regional approaches to hydrogen planning.
The exchange covered technical solutions, policy approaches, capacity building and local stakeholder engagement.
Reviewing regional experience
Partners examined examples from participating regions to understand:
- which conditions supported successful implementation;
- which barriers affected regional hydrogen initiatives;
- how public authorities coordinated stakeholders;
- which tools could be adapted to other territories; and
- where regional differences required a tailored approach.
Peer review of pilot activities
The partnership also reviewed H2CE pilot work, including:
- GIS-based planning in Styria and Veneto;
- the Lübben energy-cell model;
- the hydrogen-voucher mechanism in the Ústí Region; and
- Regional H2 Competence Centre approaches.
Feedback from partners helped assess usability, transferability and opportunities for improvement.
Main lessons
The exchange showed that solutions could not simply be copied from one region to another. Transfer required consideration of:
- local energy resources and infrastructure;
- expected hydrogen demand;
- data availability;
- governance and regulatory conditions;
- existing organisations and expertise; and
- stakeholder capacity and acceptance.
Practical value
The peer-review process turned individual regional activities into knowledge that could benefit a wider audience.
Good practices, pilot experience and project tools were brought together through the H2CE Collaboration Platform, helping other regions identify relevant approaches without having to reproduce the complete development process.
