At the end of February, Veneto Region, in collaboration with Enaip Veneto, carried out the Third Regional Focus Group involving key territorial stakeholders from the tourism sector.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss the main challenges regional operators are facing in the transition towards sustainable tourism, with the aim of defining effective dissemination strategies to foster the integration of Greenpact tools into everyday business practices and local contexts.
Participants stressed the urgent need to overcome outdated stereotypes that undervalue tourism jobs and to better communicate the sector’s growth potential to younger generations. Training priorities should increasingly focus on sustainability and land conservation, tailored to regional contexts and business needs, while also addressing the growing demand for linguistic, intercultural, and environmental skills.
The discussion also addressed the issue of overtourism, stressing the importance of shifting from a mass tourism model towards a more quality-oriented approach that respects local resources and safeguards community well-being.
Promoting responsible development, enhancing professional competencies, and aligning skills with evolving consumer expectations were identified as essential steps toward a more resilient and sustainable tourism sector.
