On 6 May 2026, a press conference dedicated to the RE-PUBLIC SPACES project took place at the revitalised courtyard located at 8 Traugutta Street in Łódź. The event focused on the city’s approach to climate adaptation through the revitalisation of historic urban spaces and the implementation of nature-based solutions in dense urban environments.

The conference was attended by Adam Pustelnik, Vice Mayor of the City of Łódź, and Professor Marek Sobański, Director of the City Architect’s Office. During the meeting, the speakers presented the objectives of the RE-PUBLIC SPACES project and discussed the role of green and blue infrastructure in improving the quality and climate resilience of inner-city public spaces.

The courtyard at Traugutta 8 was presented as a model example of sustainable urban regeneration combining heritage protection with contemporary environmental solutions. The revitalisation includes permeable surfaces, rainwater retention and infiltration systems, new greenery, and measures aimed at reducing the urban heat island effect while creating more accessible and resident-friendly shared spaces.

The press conference attracted significant attention from local and regional media. The project and the transformation of the courtyard were covered by Łódź.pl, TVP3 Łódź, Radio Łódź, TV TOYA, Nasze Miasto Łódź, and official City of Łódź social media channels. Media reports and online publications highlighted both the environmental and social dimensions of the project and presented the revitalisation as an example of innovative climate-responsive urban development.

The public response has also been very positive. Residents commenting on social media and news articles expressed strong support for increasing greenery in the city centre, reducing excessive concrete surfaces, and improving the quality of shared urban environments. Many comments appreciated the transformation of the courtyard and recognised the project as an important step towards creating healthier and more liveable urban spaces in Łódź.
