Partners News – FAI

Date: 27.09.2026
In our new Partner News series, we will take you behind the scenes of the project and show how our partners are turning our shared goals into concrete activities across Central Europe. We will introduce their latest work, local achievements and the steps they are taking to bring Blue Zone principles and Digital Twin technology closer to our pilot territories.

We start in Montegrotto Terme, Italy, with our partner FAI.

During the first months of BLUETWIN-CE, FAI has been laying the groundwork for the Blue Zone model in the Italian pilot area of Montegrotto Terme, connecting the project’s transnational strategy with concrete local action.
FAI set up a dedicated internal team of 5 experts covering management, healthcare, administration and communication, and brought local public governance on board by welcoming the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Montegrotto Terme into the project’s Transnational Blue Zone Governance Network.
As the partner leading Activity 1.3, FAI focused on gathering local knowledge and engaging the community: it mapped 8 key local stakeholders and carried out 5 in-depth interviews with local organisations – Consorzio Veneto Insieme, Associazione Sinodè, Anteas Monselice, Cooperativa Spazio Aperto and the Municipality – collecting valuable insights on local governance, community needs and opportunities for the Blue Zone approach. These findings were shared and validated in two project workshops, feeding directly into the Governance Structure Assessment Report and the Validated Transnational Governance Strategy.
Over the past month, FAI has been leading the design of the project’s Capacity Needs Assessment (CNA): a common methodology, self-assessment questionnaire and interview guide used to map the real training needs of professionals across all three pilot areas. This work, now moving into local fieldwork, is feeding directly into the Transnational Training Curriculum, shaping the capacity-building modules on Blue Zone principles and Digital Twin technology that FAI is coordinating together with the other partners.
FAI also started building the local Digital Twin, collecting and organising 24 public datasets on demographics and population trends in Montegrotto Terme, and preparing the ground for future field data collection.
