But this gathering was more than just a meeting — it was a collaborative platform where real-world solutions, shared challenges, and future-oriented ideas were exchanged to advance public transport across Central Europe.

Day 1 – Technical progress and strategic dialogue

On May 14, participants were welcomed by the Mayor of Paks and the CEO of Paks Transportation Ltd., followed by a series of technical sessions. The morning focused on Work Package 1, presenting the status of deliverables and local plans from several pilot areas.

In the afternoon, attention shifted to Work Package 2, where pilot actions related to public transport improvements were discussed. Updates from various partners provided insight into the progress and maturity of local implementations. The session also outlined the tasks for the upcoming period (Period 3).

The day concluded with updates on financial and communication reports, followed by a networking dinner in Paks’ Old Town, creating space for informal exchange and partnership building.

Day 2 – Site visit and strategic decisions

On May 15, the group began with a site visit, including a guided bus tour and a stop at the city’s central transport hub operated by Paks Transportation Ltd.

The Steering Committee session followed, with a comprehensive overview of the project’s technical, financial, and communication status. Members voted to approve the project’s progress and confirmed the next coordination steps.

During the entire two-day event, the Solaris electric buses of the Paks public transport company provided transportation for the OPTI-UP partners between various locations.

The two-day event concluded with the visit to the Nuclear Power Plant’s Visitor Centre, offering a unique perspective on the city’s broader role in infrastructure and innovation.
