The event, titled “Parking Management in Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning – from Strategy to Social Acceptance,” explored how cities can more effectively integrate parking management into their Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) and use it as a strategic tool to shape travel behaviour and enhance the quality of urban spaces.
Throughout the day, participants gained valuable insights into several key topics. They:
- explored the main findings and tools developed within the NXTLVL Parking project,
- learned how “push & pull” measures can be combined to support sustainable mobility,
- discussed communication strategies and ways to build social acceptance for parking reforms,
- took part in interactive workshop sessions focusing on policy design, stakeholder engagement, and emerging challenges such as micromobility in parking zones,
- and discovered the ParkPAD audit tool, designed to help cities assess and improve their local parking policies.
Beyond providing a platform for knowledge exchange, the workshop highlighted the growing importance of data-driven and socially inclusive parking management in achieving long-term mobility goals. The event underscored how well-designed and well-communicated parking measures can play a crucial role in creating more sustainable and liveable urban environments.
