We have just finalised a comprehensive overview that maps the current state, key gaps, and opportunities for financing digital healthcare solutions in Central and Eastern Europe. The report compares the situation in our region with existing reimbursement frameworks from Western Europe (such as the German DiGA, Belgian mHealth, or French PECAN models) and identifies where the CEE region has the greatest innovation potential.
Among the highlighted areas are:
- Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions)
- Mental health (telepsychiatry, online therapy)
- Rehabilitation and physiotherapy (home-based digital platforms)
- Remote health monitoring for elderly and chronic patients, especially in rural areas
The analysis also shows the most common barriers in CEE – such as the lack of clear reimbursement pathways, fragmented e-health infrastructure, and low incentives for healthcare providers – and points out opportunities for policy action and system improvements.
