Last week, ThEGA hosted a Learning Lab event titled “Exchange of Experiences on District Heating Networks”, bringing together 18 participants from municipal utilities, local authorities, AGFW, and representatives from the Ministry.

The workshop focused on practical exchange and forward-looking solutions for the heating transition, with key highlights including:

  • Insights into ongoing projects from various district heating network operators
  • Technical input on planning large-scale heat pump systems (AGFW | The Energy Efficiency Association for Heating, Cooling and Cogeneration)
  • Presentation of the project portfolio of Gothaer Stadtwerke Energie
  • Introduction of the nPro planning software

Discussion on ToolKIT, planning principles, and support needs

A special highlight of the day was the guided tour of the iCHP plant in Gotha-Siebleben, offering valuable on-site insights into integrated combined heat and power solutions.

The event once again demonstrated the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration across stakeholders to accelerate the development of sustainable district heating networks.
