Representatives of the Development Agency Sora participated in the expert meeting “Mobility in Rural Areas”, held on 21 May 2026 in Cerklje na Gorenjskem as part of the preparation of the Regional Sustainable Mobility Strategy for Gorenjska. The event focused on discussing demand-responsive transport services, examples of good practice, and challenges related to the accessibility of public transport in rural areas.
The programme included presentations on the activities of the Public Passenger Transport Management Company (DUJPP) in the field of demand-responsive transport, approaches to the integrated planning of such services in rural areas, and examples of successful implementation. Participants were introduced to ToyotaGo, a digital solution for booking and managing on-demand transport services, as well as practical experiences from the Municipality of Bohinj and from the Karst and Brkini regions, where the service operates under the name Lokalno povezani (“Locally Connected”). Part of the meeting was also dedicated to analysing transport poverty in Slovenia, with a particular focus on the Gorenjska region, followed by a workshop addressing the challenges of rural mobility.
Through the PER-MOVE project, the Development Agency Sora, together with the Municipality of Škofja Loka and project partners, is working to develop solutions that will improve mobility for residents of rural and less accessible areas. One of the project’s key objectives is to establish a demand-responsive transport service that would complement the existing public transport system and improve access to the town, public services, and everyday activities.
An important opportunity for Škofja Loka is its inclusion as a pilot area in the planned Demand-Responsive Transport measure being prepared by DUJPP within the framework of Slovenia’s Social Climate Plan 2026–2032. This opens up additional opportunities to test solutions that can contribute in the long term to more accessible, flexible, and efficient public transport services in rural areas.
Through the PER-MOVE project, we aim to develop solutions based on the actual needs of local residents and contribute to more connected, inclusive, and sustainable mobility in the Škofja Loka area.
