The competition was between  eight two-person teams representing schools that participated in training sessions in the framework of the Urban Living Lab during last year. During these sessions, participants acquired green competencies, preparing for their roles as young environmental experts. Together, they reflected on the importance of nature-based solutions (NBS) and created visions of a sustainable city of the future – a place where people, nature, and technology collaborate to create a harmonious living space.

The knowledge they gained did not remain just theoretical. In the following months, the young leaders conducted cascade training sessions – original workshops for primary school students, sharing their knowledge and inspiring younger students to take climate action. Some teams went a step further, organizing meetings for senior residents of Sosnowiec as part of the Transformation Clubs’ activities.

The competition finals were prepared by the Sosnowiec CICADA4CE project team in collaboration with external partners. During the finals, the teams tackled tasks testing their knowledge of contemporary environmental challenges, demonstrated their creativity, and presented the results of their educational activities in the form of video materials.

The winners of the competition will visit two European capitals – Brussels, where they will learn about the functioning of EU institutions, and Warsaw, where they will visit the Polish Parliament.

Second place winners will also travel to Brussels and will visit Warsaw thanks to an invitation from the Speaker of the Sejm.

Third place winners are also invited to visit the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.
