The first two months of activity at Multicentrum Zero Waste in Brzeg Dolny have been nothing short of inspiring! With a warm welcome from the local community, the center quickly became a vibrant space for creativity, learning, and sustainable change. Through diverse workshops in sewing, cooking, carpentry, and upcycling, PP9 have taken meaningful steps toward a more circular lifestyle.
From day one, the Multicentre has been about bringing people together. Participants of all ages—seniors, students, parents, and professionals—joined workshops not only to learn new skills but also to connect with like-minded citizens who prefer creating things that last over quick consumption. Shared goals and hands-on collaboration have laid the foundation for a growing community that values sustainability and mutual support. Some participants, inspired by the atmosphere and eager to contribute, volunteered to lead their own workshops, sharing skills in creating Easter decorations and macramé. This spontaneous engagement highlights the power of the Multicentre to spark initiative and co-creation.
Every workshop has been an opportunity to explore practical skills that support zero-waste living. In the sewing sessions, participants learned how to make bags, backpacks and pillows ; in culinary classes, they discovered creative ways to include plant-based meals into daily menu and reduce food waste- f.e- by making pesto from carrot tops; and in carpentry and upcycling workshops, they gave new life to discarded materials. Our educators have empowered attendees with the know-how to rethink consumption and find value in the things we already own.
In addition to organized workshops, the Multicentre also offers open space access during dedicated afternoon hours. During this time, residents can use the space and available tools for their own DIY projects, repairs, or to host grassroots circular initiatives. A supervisor is always present to provide guidance or support, making the Multicentre not only a place for learning but also a hub for independent, community-led action.
To further diversify the centre’s offer, the Multicentre team is currently planning a series of engaging events aimed at reaching new audiences and deepening local involvement in circular practices. These future activities will not only attract more residents but also amplify the impact and visibility of the pilot action, helping to embed circular habits more widely across the community. The growing enthusiasm is evident—workshop spots are often fully booked within just a few hours of publishing the monthly schedule, highlighting both the relevance of the topics and the community’s eagerness to participate.
